Role Summary

Royal Priesthood Pentecostal Church (UK) is seeking a reliable Sound Engineer / Stage Technician to support the technical delivery of worship services, rehearsals, prayer meetings and church events. This role focuses on live sound, stage setup, microphones, speakers, mixers, monitors, cables and the smooth technical running of services.

The right person should understand how to set up and operate sound equipment safely, keep the stage tidy, troubleshoot audio issues quickly and support worship leaders, speakers, singers, musicians and pastors during live services.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the audio mixer for worship services, rehearsals and special events.
  • Prepare microphones for pastors, speakers, worship leaders, singers and instruments.
  • Set up speakers, monitors, DI boxes, mic stands, cables and stage equipment.
  • Check sound levels before and during services.
  • Reduce feedback, distortion, poor gain staging and unclear speech/audio.
  • Support musicians with instrument connections, monitor mixes and stage sound.
  • Keep cables neat, labelled and safely positioned to reduce trip hazards.
  • Assist with pack-down after services and ensure equipment is stored correctly.
  • Carry out basic equipment checks before services.
  • Troubleshoot live technical issues calmly and quickly.
  • Work closely with the worship team, media team and church leadership.
  • Report damaged equipment, missing cables or technical faults to the relevant leader.

Requirements

  • Experience operating sound equipment in church, events, theatre, live music or similar settings.
  • Understanding of mixers, microphones, XLR cables, jack cables, speakers, monitors and basic stage signal flow.
  • Ability to manage live sound for speech, singing and music.
  • Good listening skills and attention to detail.
  • Calm under pressure during live services.
  • Reliable, punctual and willing to serve on Sundays and occasional evenings.
  • Awareness of safe cable management and basic stage safety.
  • Ability to work respectfully with pastors, musicians, volunteers and church members.
